National Employers' Organisation for School Teachers

LGE advises the National Employers’ Organisation for School Teachers (NEOST), which represents children's services authorities and local education authorities (LEAs) in England and Wales.

NEOST also covers the following:

• negotiates with the teacher unions on conditions of service
• issues joint guidance with the unions on subjects of common interest and concern, such as allegations of abuse against staff
• represents children's services authorities/LEAs in working in social partnership with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), NASUWT, ATL, Voice, ASCL, Unison, GMB and Unite.
• submits evidence to the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB) on behalf of LEAs, in conjunction with the Government and the trade unions.
• advises LEAs on the application of statutory pay and conditions of employment and on industrial relations issues in schools.
