Guide to the LGPS for eligible councillors

Scotland

The guide for councillors has been updated for the New Look LGPS in Scotland from 1 April 2009. The content is based on LGE's understanding of the current position with regard to the provisions of the LGPS for councillors in Scotland from 1 April 2009.

Text that requires amending or is for guidance on the use of the booklet is shown in red. This is so administering authorities can add localised information/contact details.

The main sections of the booklet relate to the position from 1 April 2009, with cross references where appropriate to the section "If You Joined the LGPS Before 1 April 2009".

Adminstering authorities will also need to consider how they intend to deal with updates to the pay bands in the contribution table in the "Choice and Joining" section.

 Introductory leaflet to the LGPS for eligible councillors

This leaflet is intended as an introduction to the Scheme for councillors and, as such, does not satisfy Disclosure of Information legislation requirements - hence the reference to obtaining a full scheme guide on Page 3. Sections which require localised information / contact details to be added are shown in red.
