Grey book
National Joint Council For Local Authorities' Fire and Rescue Services, Scheme of conditions of service (Sixth edition)
The Grey book covers the national pay and conditions for operational and control staff of local authority fire and rescue services.
At the moment the sixth edition only is available and can be accessed online by LG Employers subscribers, local authorities and fire authorities. Staff in local authority, fire authority and subscriber organisations will need to register with the website in order to gain access. Under the 2003 pay and conditions agreement there are still some areas within the Grey book which need to be negotiated.
Once these issues have been agreed within the NJC a revised Grey book will be published and advertised to authorities via NJC circular.
