Brigade managers

LG Employers provides the Secretariat to the Employers'  Side of the National Joint Council (NJC) for Brigade Managers of Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services.

The NJC has 28 members:

  • Employers'  Side: Local Government Association (9 members); the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (3 members); Welsh Local Government Association (1 member) and the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Services Board (1 member)
  • Employees'  Side: the Association of Principal Fire Officers (14 members)

Agreements on conditions of service are incorporated into the scheme of conditions of service known as the Gold Book

Information is communicated to fire authorities by both employer and joint circulars. Employer circulars are issued by the national Employers. Joint circulars are issued by the NJC.

  • Brigade Managers Pay Survey

    In order to inform negotiations for Brigade Managers, authorities are asked to complete a short survey. The deadline date is 9 August 2010.

  • Brigade Managers' Pay 2010

    In recognition of a tough year ahead for fire and rescue authorities, they will not be seeking a national wage settlement. This position still allows for authorities to agree local settlements where appropriate.
