  • Swine flu information and briefings from the LGA Group

    The LGA is issuing regular briefings on swine flu so that councils have the latest information about the international, national and local response. LGE has prepared an update on the WHO declaration of a phase 6 pandemic and a paper which sets out the options for how human resource professionals and managers within councils may wish to manage any concerns.

  • Council Worker of the Year Awards 2009

    Winners of the Council Worker of the Year Awards 2009 were announced on 2 July. The awards aim to give wide recognition and acknowledgement to council workers who truly shine and stand out amongst the workforce in local government.

  • Advisory bulletin no. 553

    Advisory bulletin 553 reports on the House of Lords' decision in the case of HM Revenue and Customs v Stringer and others, which considered issues of working time regulations relating to sickness absence and annual leave. The bulletin also features cases on age discrimination, compromise agreements, equal pay and disability discrimination.

  • MJ Achievement Awards 2009

    The 2009 MJ Achievement Awards were presented at a gala ceremony in London on 25 June. This year the LGA Group and the Public Sector People Managers' Association (PPMA) sponsored the award category for People and Workforce Achievement.
